Question:

When I print a certain block from one of the projects in Electric Quilt 5 or 6 as ‘Foundation Pattern’, the patches are not numbered.


Cause:

Electric Quilt can not show the (correct) numbering for Foundation Piecing in Printmenu > Foundation Pattern when the block contains an appliqué patch (for instance: wheels of car, eye of elephant).
This is the case when the block has been made in EQ5 ‘Overlaid’/in EQ6 with ‘EasyDraw + PatchDraw’.

This applies to the following blocks:

project Date of birth: doll’s pram, toy van, wooden hand cart

project Elephant with calf: elephant

project En route: car, schoolbus, van

project I love ladybugs: ladybug

project Name with toys: toy van

The numbering will not be printed if you checked ‘Print numbering’ on the ‘Options’ tab.

More specific:

In EQ5 you will see no numbering in the screen ‘Print Foundation Pattern’ and an empty block in ‘Preview’.
In EQ6, depending on your Windows version/EQ6 version (Build 1 or 2*),you will see wrong numbering in the screen ‘Print Foundation Pattern’and a block with no numbering in ‘Preview’,
or
no numbering in the screen ‘Print Foundation Pattern’ and an empty block in ‘Preview’.


Solution:

Number the patches yourself.
EQ5 will not save your numbering.
EQ6 Build 1* will not save your numbering.
EQ6 Build 2* WILL save your numbering.
You will find the correct numbering of the block in the PDF version of the pattern you chose. You will find this PDF version in the CD-ROM menu under ‘PDF Patterns > PDF Patterns Gallery’.
Click the project of your choice.
How to number the patches in EQ can be found in the CD-ROM menu under ‘Printing EQ Patterns > Print a Foundation Pattern‘.

*In EQ6 click ‘Help’,’About EQ’in the menu bar to see what Build you have installed.

EQ website:
