Installing Quilting Designs 7 on Vista (64 bit) and Windows 7 (64 bit)
Question:
QBlock in the upper left corner and in the block will be the message “no
library files found”
I just purchased Quilting Designs volume 7 and am having problems
installing it.
I already have all the previous volumes installed without
any problems.
After Vol. 7 is installed and I open the program it shows
Vol 7 listed under Vol 6 but when I click on it nothing happens.
However, if I go into EQ6, the designs show up in the library. Also when
I open the quilting designs program, I first get a popup block that says:
QBlock in the upper left corner and in the block will be the message “no
library files found”
Answer:
There is a path in your registry that isn't getting set quite correctly on 64 bit Windows.
We'll update that so you should be all set.
Close the Quiltmaker program if it is open.
First, let's see what the registry entry for Volume 6 says, and then we'll make Volume 7 match.
To check, go to Start > Run.
Type regedit and press Enter. Be careful in here, and only change the Volume 7 path. The registry holds lots of different settings for Windows and other programs on your computer.
Go to My Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Electric Quilt Company > QBLOCK > QBlock Series > The Quiltmaker Collection > Quiltmaker Volume 6.
Take a look at the Path field on the right. It probably says:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electric Quilt Company\Quilting Designs\lib\The Quiltmaker Collection\Quiltmaker Volume 6
right? If not, would you let me know what it says? Then I can tell you what the entry for Volume 7 should be.
Now go to Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Electric Quilt Company > QBLOCK > QBlock Series > The Quiltmaker Collection > Quiltmaker Volume 7.
If the path for Volume 6 was:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electric Quilt Company\Quilting Designs\lib\The Quiltmaker Collection\Quiltmaker Volume 6\
Then the path for Volume 7 should be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electric Quilt Company\Quilting Designs\lib\The Quiltmaker Collection\Quiltmaker Volume 7
To change the path, double-click on the word Path in the Registry Editor.
An Edit String window will come up. Copy and paste the path I have below into the Value data box:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electric Quilt Company\Quilting Designs\lib\The Quiltmaker Collection\Quiltmaker Volume 7
Click OK.
Click the X in the upper right corner of the Registry Editor to close it.
Now open up the Quiltmaker program and Volume 7 should be just fine.
